Caring forthe environment

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. With our waste reduction approach, we are making our contribution to ensure a greener world.

We are proud to have achieved the gold rating for our tannery from the Leather Working Group (LWG), a multi-stakeholder group dedicated to promoting sustainable and appropriate environmental business practices within the global leather industry.

The LWG is made up of member brands, retailers, product manufacturers, leather manufacturers, chemical suppliers and technical experts. The global endorsement of our tannery underscores our proactive efforts towards aligning our operations with environmental priorities.

Our tannery is among the most modernised and largest tanneries in India. The high-quality tanning drums use 10 times less water and 1/4th the energy of conventional drums. Apart from saving water and energy, the innovative technology and modern machinery deployed at the tannery also ensures zero oil emission and leakage as well as reduces chemical releases and other waste.

Our tannery is equipped with state-of-the-art effluent treatment plant of 1.65 MLD capacity. The well-managed effluent collection and processing system ensures 100% recovery of chrome, an effluent which can pose significant health hazards if evacuated untreated into the surroundings. The exhaust chrome liquor is processed, the sludge recovered and sold to authorised vendors of chemicals, thus preventing groundwater contamination. While wastewater is treated before it is discharged, chrome and other solid waste matter are disposed of in an environmentally safe and efficient manner.

Our tannery strictly adheres to all legal bindings laid down by the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) of India. A study by IIT Roorkee has declared that our tannery causes no environmental pollution under the National Framework of Environmental Laws.

As an environmentally-conscious and sustainable company, we also embrace responsible practices at all our manufacturing units. The focus is to create our products with processes that minimise our impact on the environment.
